Men's soccer can't reel in Fighting Muskies

Oct. 12 , 2004
NEW CONCORD, Ohio - The Marietta men's soccer team failed to win for the fourth straight game with a 2-0 loss to Muskingum tonight (Oct. 12) in Ohio Athletic Conference action.

The Pioneers (3-5-2, 0-3-1 OAC) were shut out for the third time in four games by the Fighting Muskies (10-4, 3-1 OAC), who scored a goal in each half in route to the victory.

Alastair Sawer scored both of Muskingum goals, an unassisted goal in the sixth minute and another goal in the 69th minute, off the assist from Zach Zealer.

Marietta's Adam Cervenka (Mentor) made eight saves and faced 24 shots in the loss. The Pioneer offense managed just six shots and James Duling made two saves for the Muskies.

The Navy Blue & White return to action Saturday, when they host John Carroll in part two of a Senior Day doubleheader at Don Drumm Stadium. The women will take the field first at 2 p.m. and the men will follow with a 4 p.m. kickoff.
