First OAC victory continues to elude Pioneers in 2004

WESTERVILLE, Ohio - Coach Patrick Holguin's men's soccer team remained winless in the Ohio Athletic Conference following a 3-1 road loss to Otterbein Wednesday (Oct. 20).
The Pioneers (3-7-2, 0-5-1 OAC) never led in the contest, as Otterbein (7-5-1, 3-3 OAC) scored two early first half goals before Marietta got on the board in the 31st minute.
Senior Marcos Vaca (Friendswood, TX) scored the Pioneers' unassisted goal, his second of the year.
The Cardinals added a third goal in the 72nd minute, when Justin Lewis scored his second goal of the game and ninth of the year. Brett LeFever had the first goal for the Cardinals.
Marietta's goalkeeper Adam Cervenka (Mentor) made 13 saves, facing 23 shots in the loss. The Pioneers finished with seven shots.
The Pioneers return to action Saturday (Oct. 23) when they travel to Berea to take on Baldwin-Wallace at 7 p.m. |
