| Polar Bears cool off Pioneers in OAC opener

MARIETTA, Ohio - Ohio Northern snapped Marietta's four-game win streak Saturday (Oct 1) with a 6-0 victory at Marietta Field. The loss drops the Pioneers record to 5-4 overall, 0-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC), while the Polar Bears improved to 7-4, 1-0 in league play.
Ohio Northern took a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute when Adam Ross found the back of the net. The Polar Bears added three goals, one by Jon Bade and two by Kyle Arbaugh, late first half to give them a 4-0 lead at intermission.
The scoring continued less than nine minutes into the final frame when Nick Farmwald scored ONU's fifth goal of the day. John Rolfe capped the scoring with a goal in the 69th minute, giving the Polar Bears a 6-0 win.
Thaddeus Cochran (Westerville/Worthington Christian) allowed four first half goals and made one save. Fellow freshman Brian Bugge (Stafford, VA/Colonial Forge) tended goal in the second half, allowing two goals and making two saves.
Marietta will look to regroup before plays host to Wilmington Tuesday (Oct. 4) at 4 p.m.
