Pioneers fall 7-2 against John Carroll

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio - The Marietta College men's soccer team suffered a tough 7-2 loss to host John Carroll Saturday (Oct. 15) to fall to 6-7 overall and 1-4 in the Ohio Athletic Conference.
The Blue Streaks (6-6-1, 4-1 OAC) rattled off seven goals in the first 36 minutes to take complete control of the outcome, while Marietta scored two in the second half en route to a 7-2 victory for JCU.
Facing a 7-0 deficit in the 56th minute, Marietta's Mike Sanchez (Pasdena, TX/Deer Park) finally got the Pioneers on the board with his second goal of the season.
Teammate Felix Ntow (Columbus/Mifflin) added a goal, his sixth of the fall, less than two minutes later, when the Blue Streak's goalie slipped, leaving an open net.
Marietta actually out shot John Carroll 17-15 in the game.
Steve Hagenau (Clearwater, FL/Central Catholic) got the start for the Pioneers in goal, allowing all seven goals in his 45 minutes of work. Jordan Slavin (Parkersburg, WV/South) tended net for the final 45 minutes and made two saves.
Marietta returns to action Tuesday (Oct. 18) when it travels to Westerville to take on the Otterbein Cardinals at 3:30 p.m.
