ALTOONA, Pa. – The Marietta College men's soccer team suffered
its third straight loss to open the year, falling to Albright College
2-1 in overtime Saturday (Sept. 9) at the Fall Invitational, hosted
by Penn State-Altoona.
The Pioneers (0-3) jumped out to a one goal lead in the sixth minute,
when junior Joel Nau (Marietta) scored his first
goal of the season. Sophomore Brad Baweja (Kentwood,
Mich./East Kentwood) assisted Nau on the play.
Albright (2-0) tied the game with a goal in the 54th minute, when
Tom Talarico got a shot past Marietta's Tad
Cochran (Westerville/Worthington Christian).
The game remained tied at 1-1 until two minutes into overtime,
when Talarico scored the game winner to send Albright into Sunday's
championship.
Marietta will take on Thiel (Pa.) in the consolation at 12 p.m.
