| Pioneer men defeat host Bluffton 2-0
Freshmen key to Marietta victory

BLUFFTON, Ohio – A pair of second-half goals by a Pioneer
freshmen helped the Marietta College men’s soccer team pick
up a 2-0 victory over host Bluffton Saturday (Sept. 23) afternoon.
With the win, the Pioneers improved to 2-5 on the year, while the
Beavers fell to 0-6.
After a scoreless first half, Marietta took the lead in the 63rd
minute, when junior Mike Sanchez (Pasadena, TX/Deer Park) set up
freshman Dan Cawley (Marietta) for his first goal of the year.
The Pioneers added an insurance goal in the 84th minute, when freshman
Kyle Muth (Twinsburg) scored for the fourth time of the year.
Marietta out-shot Bluffton 12-to-8 in the game. Pioneer goalkeeper
Tad Cochran (Westerville/Worthington Christian) finished with four
saves in the victory.
The Pioneers return to action on Tuesday (Sept. 26), when they
play host to Carnegie Melon at 4 p.m.
