Marietta falls to host Ohio Northern 1-0 in men's soccer
Pioneers suffer fourth straight loss

ADA, Ohio – Marietta College's trek through the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) men's soccer schedule continued Saturday (Oct. 7) with a 1-0 road loss to Ohio Northern University.

The Pioneers, who have now lost four straight, fell to 2-9 overall and 0-3 in the OAC. The Polar Bears improved to 9-1-4 overall and 2-0-1 in the OAC.

Ohio Northern out shot Marietta 13-7, but the Pioneer defense held strong for most of the game. The Polar Bears finally struck in the 58th minute when Dan Otanicar scored on a header. The goal, his sixth of the year, was assisted by Cody Jones.

Marietta's keeper Steve Hagenau (Clearwater, Fla./Central Catholic) made five saves in the complete game loss, his second of the year.

The Pioneers return home Tuesday (Oct. 10) to play host to Mount Union. The OAC contest will begin at 4 p.m. at Marietta Field.
