| Pioneers shut out 3-0 on the road against Capital

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Marietta College men's team was left
off the scoreboard for the sixth time this season Wednesday (Oct.
18) afternoon, as it fell to host Capital 3-0 in an Ohio Athletic
Conference (OAC) action.
The Pioneers (2-12, 0-6 OAC) actually out shot the Crusaders (9-4-2,
4-1-1 OAC) 12-8 in the game.
Capital took a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute when Steven
McCarthy scored on a header. Joey Snyder made
it 2-0 in the 52nd minute with an unassisted goal and then picked
up the assist on the Crusaders' final score, which came from Dan
Bertrams in the 62nd minuet.
Marietta's Steve Hagenau (Clearwater, Fla./Central
Catholic) got the start in goal and allowed one score in the first
half. Tad Cochran (Westerville/Worthington Christian)
worked the final 45 minutes, allowing a pair of goals and making
two saves.
The Pioneers return to action Saturday (Oct. 21) for a Senior Day
match-up with the Student Princes of Heidelberg. Kickoff is slated
for 2 p.m. on Marietta Field.
