| Marietta men fall 3-1 to Heidelberg on Senior Day

MARIETTA, Ohio – The Marietta College men's team suffered a 3-1 home loss to Heidelberg College Saturday (Oct. 21) on Senior Day at Marietta Field.
With the win, the Student Princes improve to 5-8-3 overall and 2-5 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. The Pioneers fall to 2-13 on the year and 0-7 in Conference play.
Despite Heidelberg rattling off nine first half shots, the game remained in a scoreless tie until the 58th minute when Samuel Sunseri scored the Student Princes' first goal on a header.
Brad Howell followed with two goals, one in the 76th minute and another in the 83rd minute, to extend the lead to 3-0.
Marietta ruined Heidelberg's shutout with a goal by Brad Baweja (Kentwood, Mich./East Kentwood) with 16 second left in the game.
Heidelberg finished with 14 shots compared to Marietta's five. Steve Hagenau had seven saves in the loss, while Brian Benson had four for the Student Princes.
Marietta closes out the season with a pair of road games. The Pioneers travel to Wilmington Wednesday (Oct. 24) and John Carroll Saturday (Oct. 28). Both games are at 7 p.m. |
