Marietta men begin OAC play with 1-0 loss to Otterbein
Pioneers fall to 4-4-1 overall on the year

WESTERVILLE, Ohio —The Marietta College men's soccer team
allowed an early goal in its first Ohio Athletic Conference game,
a match-up at rival Otterbein College, and that was how it ended
as the Cardinals defeated the Pioneers 1-0 Saturday (Sept. 29) afternoon.
John Mark-Mocas gave Otterbein (4-6, 1-0 OAC)
a 1-0 lead just nine minutes into the game when he flicked a ball
over Pioneer keeper Steve Hagenau(Clearwater, Fla./Central
Catholic) and into the back of the net.
Marietta (4-4-1, 0-1 OAC) out-shot Otterbein 20-7; each team had
three shots on goal.
Hagenau had two saves in the loss, while David Timko made
three saves in a winning effort.
The Pioneers are back in action Tuesday (Oct. 2) when they visit
rival Muskingum for a 4 p.m. game.
