Pioneer men’s soccer suffers second OAC defeat at Ohio Northern
Marietta now 5-5-1 on the season

ADA, Ohio — The Marietta College men’s soccer team lost in a lopsided affair 7-1 at Ohio Northern Saturday (Oct 6) afternoon. The loss drops the Pioneers record to 5-5-1 on the year and 1-2 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Ohio Northern improves its overall record to 10-4 and 2-1 in the OAC.
The Polar Bears used goals by Nick Farmwald, Dan Otanicar, and Brian Bolibrzuch to build a 3-0 first half lead that proved to be insurmountable for the visiting Pioneers.
Ohio Northern then tacked on two early second half goals to build their lead to 5-0 with 35 minutes still remaining in the game.
Marietta finally got on the board at the 56:50 mark when senior forward Sergio Fajardo Jr. (Seuil de Fora, MG, Brazil/Granbery) scored off a penalty kick after he was fouled in the box.
Northern then went on to add two more goals to increase the score to 7-1.
Junior Steven Hagenau (Clearwater, Fla./Central Catholic) got the start for the Pioneers in goal making two saves. Fellow junior Kasey Gray (Marietta) came on in the second half to make one save.
The Polar Bears out-shot the Pioneers 17-10 and 10-5 with shots on goal.
The Pioneer men finish their eight game road spell on Wednesday (Oct. 10) night when they travel to Mount Union. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. |
