Mar. 10, 2005
KISSIMMEE, Florida The Marietta College softball team continues
to struggle against some of the nation's top competition down at
the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Florida. The Lady Pioneers
(1-7) were shutout twice this morning (Mar. 10), falling 10-0 to
Coe (IA) and 2-0 to the College of New Jersey.
Coach Jeanne Arbuckle's squad managed just one hit, a pinch-hit
single by sophomore Kelly Rucker (Rocky River) in the fourth
inning.
Junior Amie Weis (Burlington, WI/Westosha Central) allowed
10 runs (four earned) on six hits through five innings, before the
game was called due to Coe's 10-run advantage. Weis is now 0-4 on
the season.
In game two against the College of New Jersey, Marietta's offense
produced seven hits, but could not plate a run, falling 2-0. Senior
Katie Moriarty (North Canton/Hoover) went 2-for-3 in the
loss.
Sophomore Kristen Quintana (Denver, CO/Littleton) took the
loss, falling to 1-3 on the spring. She allowed two runs on six
hits over six innings. Both runs came in the second innings, when
TCNJ strung together three hits.
