Marietta College softball will host pitching clinic

MARIETTA, Ohio –Marietta College Softball is hosting its annual Pioneer Pitching Clinic on Sunday (Jan. 29) at the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center.

A session for beginners’ grades 5-8 is scheduled from 9:30-11:30. The intermediate/advanced session for grades 9-12 is scheduled for 11:30-1:30. Cost is $30 and includes a t-shirt.  Amy Kyler, assistant coach at Purdue University will be the featured clinician. Current and former Pioneer players and coaches will also assist with the clinic.

Coach Kyler has pitched professionally in both the National Pro Fastpitch league and the Women's Professional Softball League since 1997. She was a member of the Carolina Diamonds in 1997 and 1998, posting a 16-16 record with a 2.42 ERA in 219.1 inning pitched. In 1999 and 2000, Kyler played for the Akron Racers, helping the team advance to the WPSL Championship semifinal in 1999. She was a member of the National Pro Fastpitch All-Star tour team in 2003, played for the California Sunbirds in 2004 and led the Akron Racers to the NPF National Championship in 2005. Kyler has been named to the WPSL or NPF All-Star team five times.

Following a standout career at Cleveland State University, Kyler served as an assistant at Bowling Green before returning to her alma mater where she coached for four seasons.  In November Kyler was hired as assistant coach at Purdue University.
