Marietta College softball voted No. 21 in sixth NFCA Division III Poll
Lady Pioneers play host to Baldwin-Wallace Saturday and No. 12 Mount Union Sunday

Apr. 11, 2007
MARIETTA, Ohio — The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) released its sixth regular season Division III Top 25 Poll of the year Wednesday (Apr. 11) afternoon, and the Marietta College softball team was voted No. 21.

The Lady Pioneers, who are now 18-6 and 3-3 in the Ohio Athletic Conference after splitting a doubleheader Monday (Apr. 9) at Ohio Northern, were No. 14 in the previous poll.

The top five teams in the poll remained the same from last week but some of the positions did change. St. Thomas (Minn.) (24-2) remained on top with Louisiana (19-5) staying in second. Linfield (Ore.) (24-4) jumped from fifth to third, Ithaca (N.Y.) (14-4) slid one spot from third to fourth and Wis.-Eau Claire (14-4) fell from fourth to fifth in the poll, which ranks the top 25 as voted on by eight coaches, one representing each region.

OAC rival Muskingum, who Marietta dropped a doubleheader against last week, and Mount Union, who Marietta is scheduled to play at home on Sunday at 1 pm., were tied for No. 10 and voted No. 12, respectively.

The Lady Pioneers gear up for Sunday's match-up with Mount Union by playing host to Baldwin-Wallace Saturday (Apr. 14) at 1 p.m. Saturday is Youth Softball Day at Marietta College and activities are planned for local youth who are in attendance.
