Quintana named OAC Pitcher of the Week
Senior threw two no-hitters to help her earn the weekly award for the third time in 2007

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio — Marietta College senior pitching ace Kristen Quintana (Denver, Colo./Littleton) picked up Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Pitcher of the Week honors for the third time this season, according to the league office, which released its weekly awards on Monday (Apr. 23) afternoon.

Quintana, the 2006 OAC Pitcher of the Year, had a memorable week. The right-hander threw a pair of no-hitters, walking a pair and hitting one, in victories over both B-W and Heidelberg. She appeared in five of the team's eight games, winning all five, while scattering eight runs (six earned) on 16 hits. She walked nine and struck out 51.

Quintana, who was also named the OAC Pitcher of the week on March 19 and 26, is now 17-4 with 195 strikeouts and a 2.05 ERA in 140 1/3 innings this season. She is just three strikeouts away from breaking Candice Miller's school strikeout record, which stands at 590.

The two no-hitters is the most in a season for a Pioneer and ties her with Sally Friend for the career record with two. Prior to this week, Marietta's last no-hitter was a Miller perfect game in 2003.

This season, Quintana has set career marks for shutouts (23), appearances (104), complete games (66), victories (56) and innings pitched (563.6). Set set almost every single-season record in 2006 and should challenge many of those before this season in complete.

No. 19 Marietta is back in action Wednesday (Apr. 25) afternoon when it visits Wilmington at 3:30 p.m. The Pioneers will close out OAC play Saturday (Apr. 28) at 1 p.m. against host John Carroll.
