Pioneer softball to host youth pitching clinic on January 27

MARIETTA, Ohio — Marietta College Softball is hosting its annual Pioneer Pitching Clinic on Sunday (Jan. 27) at the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center. [Register today (.pdf)] [Directions to coaching clinic (.pdf)]
A session for beginners in grades 4-8 is scheduled from 12:30-2:00. The intermediate/advanced session for grades 9-12 is scheduled from 2:30-4:00. Cost is $40 and includes a t-shirt. Amy Kyler, who has pitched professionally and currently serves as the head coach at Notre Dame College in Cleveland is the featured clinician. Marietta head coach Jeanne Arbuckle, pitching coach Sally Friend and current Pioneer players will also assist with the clinic.
Kyler, in her first year as head coach at Notre Dame College of Ohio, has coached at Purdue University, Cleveland State and Bowling Green. She has worked numerous camps and clinics throughout Ohio and the Midwest and is an accomplished pitching coach and clinician. After a stellar playing career at Cleveland State, Kyler pitched professionally in both the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) League and the Women's Professional Softball League (WPSL). She was a member of the Carolina Diamonds (WPSL) in 1997 and 1998, posting a 16-16 record with a 2.42 ERA in 219.1 inning pitched. In 1999 and 2000, Kyler played for the Akron Racers, helping the team advance to the WPSL Championship semifinal in 1999. Most recently Kyler played for the Akron Racers in their 2005 NPF championship season. While in the professional ranks, Kyler was named to WPSL or NPF All-Star team five times (1998-2001, 2003).
