Marietta's Busellato, Daubenmire and Woolf named Academic All-OAC in 2009
Trio among 23 student-athletes to receive recognition this spring

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio — The Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) office announced its 2009 Softball Academic All-OAC winners on Tuesday (May 19) morning and three Marietta College softball players received recognition. Junior catcher Katie Woolf (Louisville), junior center fielder Maggie Daubenmire (Thornville/Lakewood Hebron) and sophomore third baseman Cassady Buselatto (Hilliard/Hilliard Davidson) all earned Academic All-OAC honorable mention.
23 players from the OAC have been named Academic All-OAC and Academic All-OAC honorable mention. The academic award winners are selected by the OAC faculty athletics representatives. To be eligible for Academic All-OAC, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.25 cumulative grade point average, be a starter or key reserve and be in at least her second year of participation in the sport.
Woolf, a two-time All-OAC award winner—second team in 2007 and honorable mention in 2008—, batted .216 (24-for-111) in 2009. Woolf, a All-Central Region third team honoree in 2008, finished with 24 RBI while adding seven doubles in her third year as a starter for the Pioneers. The catcher also collected 138 putouts this spring.
Woolf, a Graphic Design major, carried a 3.53 grade point average into her sixth semester at Marietta. Woolf is also active in Campus Crusade, Student Conduct Board and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Daubenmire, a two-year starter and three-year letterwinner, went 25-for-88 (.285) at the plate this spring. She finished with 13 RBI while stealing six bases out of seven attempts. Daubenmire also finished second on the team with .409 on base percentage.
Daubenmire, a Communication Studies major, carried a 3.70 grade point average into her sixth semester at Marietta. She is also active with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Student Conduct Board and Hall Council.
In her first year as an everyday player, Busellato batted .277 with a team-best three home runs as well as three doubles. She scored 13 runs and drove in 14 more while pacing the squad with 67 assists on defense.
Busellato, an Athletic Training major, carried a 3.72 grade point average into her fourth semester at Marietta.
Marietta, under the leadership of 22nd-year Head Coach Jeanne Arbuckle, finished the season 23-13 overall and 10-8 in the OAC, which placed them tied for fifth in the standings. The Pioneers lose three seniors, Nikki Driscoll (Bellaire), Erin Faulkner (Wheelersburg) and Emily McComb (Gnadenhutten/Indian Valley). |
