Otterbein gets best of Marietta in women's tennis

MARIETTA, Ohio - The Marietta College women's tennis team played host to Otterbein Thursday (Feb. 24) inside the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center. The Cardinals flew past the Pioneers 8-1 in both team's Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) openers. The loss dropped Marietta's overall record to 0-2, 0-1 in the OAC.

Otterbein (2-0) swept the six singles matches, which were played as pro-sets due to the weather.

Marietta's Lauren Stermer (Ocala, FL/Forest) and Liz Basich (Montville/Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) teamed up in second doubles to capture the Pioneers' only victory of the afternoon; the ladies won 8-3.

The Pioneers will return to the non conference portion of its schedule Thursday (Mar. 3) when it travels to Hiram to take on the Terriers at 4 p.m.
