Women's tennis falls 5-4 to Muskingum

NEW CONCORD, Ohio - The Marietta College women's tennis team dropped its second Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) match of the season Tuesday (Mar. 29), falling 5-4 to rival Muskingum.

Liz Basich (Montville/Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) won one of the Lady Pioneers' three singles points. She defeated Emily Hollinberger 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 in fourth singles.

Katie Chadwell (Georgetown) picked up a straight set victory in fourth singles. Chadwell defeated Keri Schreckengost 6-3, 6-2.

Marietta (1-3) also won at sixth singles, as Courtney Bruckner (Washington, PA/Trinity) defeated Maggie Oldham 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.

Chadwell and Emily Simms (Kankakee, IL) teamed up in third doubles to earn Marietta other point, by way of a 8-5 victory.

The Lady Pioneers return to action Saturday (Apr. 2) when they host a tri-match with Ohio Northern and Charleston (WV) at the Beren Tennis Courts on the campus of Marietta College. Action starts at 10 a.m.
