Marietta falls to Capital 7-2 in women's tennis

MARIETTA, Ohio - The Lady Pioneers tennis team fell 7-2 to the Capital Crusaders Tuesday (Apr. 12). The loss drops Marietta's record to 1-8 overall, 0-6 in the OAC, while Capital improves to 6-5 overall and 3-3 in Conference play.
Marietta picked up its points in first and second singles, with victories by Elizabeth Smith (Vienna, WV/Parkersburg Catholic) (6-3, 7-5) and Lauren Stermer (Ocala, FL/Forest) (6-1, 6-3), respectively.
Sasha Katanic (Belgrade, Serbia/Mount de Chantal Visitation Academy) almost pulled off a victory in sixth singles, dropping a tiebreaker 10-7.
The Lady Pioneers will return to action Saturday (Apr. 16) when it plays visits Heidelberg for a 1 p.m. match.
