Two Pioneers receive Academic All-OAC honors in men's tennis

TWINSBURG, Ohio - The Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) announced its 2005 Academic All-OAC At-Large winners Tuesday (May 10). Marietta's Shawn Kreiner (Elizabethtown, PA) and Tomas Konsen (Brecksville/Broadview Heights) both received honorable mention. 27 athletes, representing tennis, swimming, wrestling and golf, were selected. To be eligible for Academic All-OAC, a student-athlete must have atleast a 3.25 GPA, be a starter or key reserve and be in atleast his/her second year of participation in the sport.
Kreiner, who carried a 3.85 GPA in biology and chemistry, graduated this month. He was recently inducted into Phi Beta Kappa and was awarded the E.L. Krause and Jennie Mae Krause Prize at the spring honors convocation. On the court Kreiner played predominately fourth singles and second doubles for the Pioneers.
Konsen, a junior petroleum engineering major, carries a 3.58 GPA. He picked up Marietta's only point of the year with a fifth singles victory over Westminster. Konsen spent most of the season playing second singles and first doubles.
