Pioneers end season with a 4-1 loss to Wilmington in first round of the OAC Tournament

ALLIANCE, Ohio — The Marietta College men’s tennis season came to an end Friday (Apr. 28) morning, as the ninth-seeded Pioneers fell 4-1 to eighth-seeded Wilmington in the first round of the 2006 Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Tennis Tournament.

The Pioneers finished the season 2-9, while Wilmington improved to 12-11 overall and will face top-seeded Ohio Northern at 1 p.m.

The Quakers claimed the doubles point with wins at both second doubles (8-1) and third doubles (8-0).

Marietta’s Josh McLaughlin evened the match at 1-1 with a win at first singles (6-2, retired), but Wilmington won at second singles (6-0, 6-2) fifth singles (6-0, 6-0) and sixth singles (6-0, 6-0) to seal the win, 4-1.
