March 29, 2007
WAYNESBURG, Pa. — The Marietta College men's tennis team finished one point shy of victory, falling to host Waynesburg (Pa.), 5-4, on Thursday (March 29) afternoon. It was the second time this year that the Pioneers lost 5-4.

Marietta (0-3, 0-1 OAC) opened with a win at third doubles, when sophomore Justin Yager (Marion/Pleasant) and junior Eric Taylor (Gallipolis/Gallia Academy) earned a point after an injury forced Waynesburg to concede the match with Marietta winning 4-3.

Marietta battled back to tie the match at 4-4 with wins at third, fourth and fifth singles. Junior Ryan Callihan (Stout/Portsmouth West) improved to 2-1 with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at third singles. Senior Eddie Yu (Hilliard/Hilliard Davidson), playing in his first match of the year, won at fourth singles, 7-5, 6-3. Yager swept his fifth singles match, 6-0, 6-0.
