Pioneers fall to Mount Union, 7-2
Marietta still battling for spot in OAC Tennis

ALLIANCE, Ohio — The Marietta College women's tennis team
began the final week of its regular season Tuesday (Apr. 17) with
a 7-2 road loss to Mount Union.
The Lady Pioneers, who fell to 2-8 overall and 1-7 in the Ohio
Athletic Conference, need a victory over Capital on Saturday (Apr.
21) and some help to clinch a spot in next week's eight-team OAC
Tournament. Mount Union improved to 13-5, 6-2 in league play with
the victory.
Marietta' first doubles pair of sophomore Amanda Carraher
(Hilliard/Davidson) and freshman Lauren McKiernan
(Parkersburg, W.Va./Parkersburg South) won for the fifth
time this year, taking the pro set, 8-3.
Carraher, the reigning OAC Player of the Week, then extended her
win streak at first singles to seven matches with a 6-2, 6-4 victory
over Kacey Huff.
The Lady Pioneers wrap up the regular season with the 3:30 p.m.
home contest with the Crusaders, who are 0-11 overall and 0-8 in
the OAC. The action will be played at the Beren Tennis Center.
