Sinoski and Taylor's first place finishes highlight Pioneer's performances at Marietta Open #2

MARIETTA, Ohio – The Pioneer track team held its fourth of six home competitions Saturday (Feb. 19) in the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center. Both the women (60.33 points) and the men (89.50 points) finished fourth and each had a first place finisher.
Marietta's Chris Taylor (Mineral Wells, WV) remained unbeaten at home the season in the high jump clearing 6-07.50 to win the event. He also took second in the long jump with a personal best (21-08.75).
Mallory Sinoski (Fairport) set the school record for the second time this season in her 55m hurdles victory with a time of 9.33. She also placed third in the 200m with a personal best time of 29.13.
Other top-three finishers for the women included Breanne Kosar (Wheeling, WV) (2nd/4-11.75) and Marissa Barnhart (Avon) (3rd/4-07.75) in the high jump and Brea Gardner (Glenford) in both the 500m dash (3rd/1:28.25) and in the 800m dash (3rd/2:35.99).
In addition to Taylor, there were seven top-three placements for the men Saturday. They included Harrison Potter (Rochester, NY) in the mile run (2nd/4:40.73) and in the 1,000m run (2nd/2:47.45), Anthony Banks (Colonial Heights, VA) in the 400m dash (2nd/52.38) and in the 300m dash (3rd/37.50), Tim Roberts (Worthington) in the 500m run (3rd/1:11.31). as well as Eric Finn (Shelby) (2nd/42-06.00) and Dan DeZordo (Louisville) (3rd/42-04.00) in the weight throw.
The Pioneers will be back in action in the DBRC Friday (Feb. 25) for the Marietta Open #3. Those expected to compete are Alderson-Broaddus, Mount. St. Joseph, Davis & Elkins, WV Wesleyan, Concord, Rio Grande and University of Charleston. Action gets underway at 4:30 p.m. with the field events. Here is event schedule (.pdf).
