Track & field places 11th and 18th at All-Ohio Championships

DELAWARE, Ohio - The Marietta College track & field team competed at the Division III All-Ohio Championships, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University, Saturday (Apr. 16). The men's team totaled 24 points to place 11th, while the women's squad finished in 18th place with eight points.
Eric Finn (Shelby) was a top finisher for Marietta, placing second in the hammer throw with a school-record toss of 43.68m (143-04). In addition, Rachel Forman (Heath) also finished second when she shattered her own school record in the hammer by 15 feet with a toss of 43.45m (142-07).
Senior Chris Taylor (Mineral Wells, WV) was the Pioneers' third second place finisher, as he cleared 1.98m (6-06.00) in the high jump.
Dan DeZordo (Louisville) had three top 10 finishes Saturday. He came close to a personal best in the hammer, finishing ninth with a toss of 38.72 (127-00), placed third in the discus (44.29 (145-04)) and placed eighth in the shot put with a throw of 13.53 (44-04.75).
John Hull (Scott Depot, WV) represented the Navy Blue & White in the 10,000m run, placing 19th with a time of 35:50.64.
Tim Roberts (Worthington) ran a personal best in the 400m hurdles, crossing the line in 11th place with a time of 58.17.
The women's 4x100m relay team also ran a personal record and finished 13th (53.13).
Mount Union claimed the men's title with 126 points, while Baldwin-Wallace captured the women's title with 141.33 points.
Marietta's next competition is Friday (Apr. 22) when it travels to the Lions Invitational, hosted by Mount St. Joseph at 3 p.m.
