TWINSBURG, Ohio – The Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) announced its 2005 Academic All-OAC men’s track & filed/cross country winners Sunday (May 15). Marietta senior Chris Taylor (Mineral Wells, WV/Parkersburg South) was one of 18 selected by the OAC faculty athletics representatives. To be eligible for Academic All-OAC, a student-athlete must have atleast a 3.25 GPA, be a starter or key reserve and be in atleast his/her second year of participation in the sport.
Taylor, three-time All-OAC selection in the indoor high jump, capped off his career with an eighth-place finish at the 2005 NCAA DIII Championships in March, where he was named an All-American. The indoor school record holder (6-09.50) had provisionally qualified for the event as a junior. Taylor also earned All-OAC honors in outdoor track as a sophomore in 2003 and placed fifth at the OAC Championships in 2005.
Taylor, who earlier this month graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems, was recently named Academic All-OAC for the second straight season.
In addition to his involvement in track and field, Taylor was active in Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (Community Outreach Chairman), Habitat for Humanity (Building Supervisor), Community Action and the Sunshine Learning Station tutor program.
