Marietta men and women win dual track & field meet with Muskingum
Ramsey breaks school's outdoor record in the pole vault

MARIETTA, Ohio — Marietta College track & field hosted Muskingum College for its first home track meet in over a decade Tuesday (Apr. 11) night at Don Drumm Stadium. The Pioneers and Muskies battled head-to-head, with Marietta winning both the men and women's competition. Marietta's men won 10 of the 14 scored events to finish with 87 points, while Muskingum's men compiled 61 points. The Pioneer women won all 14 events and out scored the Muskies 100 to 48 on the evening.

Junior Fizzy Ramsey broke her own school record in the pole vault, clearing 3.05m (10-00.00). The mark surpassed her vault of 3.04m (9-11.75), which was set in the spring of 2004.

The following athletes had personal bests at the meet: Cayli Cummons (2nd/16.18) in the 100m hurdles, Mallory Sinoski (1st/13.38) in the 100m dash, Jessica Haas (1st/1:01.38) in the 400m dash, Jessi Larrison (1st/11:20.57) and Jami Schneider (4th/13:01.45) in the 3000m run, Leslie Pyle (1st/1:09.76) in the 400m hurdles, Marissa Barnhart (1st/5.02m/16-05.75) in the long jump and (1st/29.38m/96-05) in the javelin, Kelly Rucker (2nd/29.28m/96-01) and Rachel Forman (24.91m/81-09) in the javelin, Tiffany Kovacevich (2nd/37.30m/122-04) and Alecia Benninger (3rd/36.27m/119-00) in the hammer throw, Isiah Johnson (1st/51.67) in the 400m dash and (1st/6.06m/19-10.75) in the long jump, Jered Mitchem (1st/1:57.77) in the 800m run and (2nd/1.78m/5-10.00) in the high jump, Harrison Potter (1st/9:16.83), John Hull (2nd/9:24.84) Kyle Hummel (3rd/9:54.37) and Joseph Wynes (4th/9:58.04) in the 3000m run, Seth Townsend (1st/13.09m/42-11.50) in the triple jump and (1st/1.93m/6-04.00) in the high jump, Raj Sharan (5th/34.35m/112-08) in the discus, Derek Carpenter (2nd/41.35m/135-08) and Brian Pallini (3rd/36.07m/118-04) in the hammer throw and Eric Finn (4th/37.69m/123-08) in the javelin.

Marietta will return to action Saturday (Apr. 15) for the Division III All-Ohio Championships, which are being hosted by Ohio Wesleyan. 33 Pioneer student-athletes qualified for the meet.
