Marietta set to leave its mark at the 2006 All-Ohio Division III Championships
A record 37 Pioneer athletes expected to compete this weekend

Apr. 13, 2006
MARIETTA, Ohio — The Marietta College track & field team has made continuous strides since Head Coach Derek Stanley took over the program in the winter of 2004 and on Saturday (Apr. 15) the program will hit another milestone has a record 37 of its student-athletes are expected to compete at the All-Ohio Division III Outdoor Championships, which will be hosted by Ohio Wesleyan. Teams from the OAC, HCAC, NCAC and the UAA will gather in Delaware for the annual event.

A year ago, the Pioneer men finished 11th, while the Pioneer women took 18th. Both are expected to have a much better showing in 2006, as more athletes will compete this weekend. At the 2006 All-Ohio Division III Indoor Championships, the women took eighth and the men finished 11th.

On Saturday, the men will have a participant in 15-of-20 events, and the women will have a representative in 16-of-20 events.

Following Saturday's competition, Marietta will return to action on Friday (Apr. 21), when it heads to Cincinnati for the Mount St. Joseph Invitational.
