Pioneers ready for Ohio Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships
Championship begins Friday at Ohio Northern

MARIETTA, Ohio — The Marietta College track & field program is gearing up for this weekend's 2007 Ohio Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, which will be held on the campus of Ohio Northern for the second straight season. The festivities are scheduled to begin Friday (March 2) at 1:30 p.m. and conclude Saturday (March 3) around 5:30 p.m.

The Pioneers will be looking to move up the league standings at the event, which is the climax of the indoor season. A year ago, Marietta's women earned 11 points to place ninth, while the men collected 13.5 points and took tenth place in the 10-team competition.

Head Coach Derek Stanley has 24 student-athletes, 11 men and 13 women, expected to be traveling to Ada to represent the school at the meet. Overall, a Pioneer will be competing in 20 of the possible 34 events. However, the weight throw, one of Marietta's strongest events, will not be thrown at the competition.
