Pallini breaks school's Weight Throw record at B-W Invitational
Reigning OAC Field Athlete of the Week finished second with mark of 15.13m

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio — Marietta College junior throws specialist Brian Pallini (Medina) continued his impressive season in the Weight Throw Friday (Feb. 8) evening. A week after winning the event and coming just shy of his own school record at the OAC Relays, Pallini smashed his school record en route to taking second place in the Weight Throw at the non-scoring Baldwin-Wallace Invitational.

Pallini, who was one of four Pioneer throwers to compete in the meet, entered the competition with a career-best throw of 14.71m (48-03.25). That mark, which came on Jan. 27, 2007, matched Eric Finn, who set the initial record on Feb. 25, 2006, for the best throw in school history. Pallini, the reigning OAC Field Athlete of the Week, erased that record Friday with a top mark of 15.13m (49-07.75). Pallini also took fifth in the Shot Put, finishing with a mark of 14.07m (46-02.00).

Freshman Zack Kirkman (Byesville/Meadowbrook) also competed in both events and set a personal record in each. Kirkman took seventh in the Shot Put with a mark of 13.24m (43-05.25). He then placed eighth in the Weight Throw with a mark of 13.71m (44-11.75).

Marietta track & field will return to action Friday (Feb. 15) afternoon when the team competes at the Marietta Open Alumni Meet during Winter Weekend. Action begins at 4 p.m. Select members of the squad will also compete Saturday (Feb. 16) at the All-Ohio Championships, which are being hosted by Otterbein College in Westerville. Action begins at 11 a.m.
