Marietta College women’s track & field earns 2008 USTFCCCA All-Academic Award
Pioneers one of three OAC schools to receive honor

MARIETTA, Ohio — The Marietta College women’s track & field team was recently honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) for its athletic and scholarly achievement throughout the 2007-08 academic year. The Pioneers were named a NCAA Division III All-Academic Team.
The women’s squad, led by Head Coach Derek Stanley and his staff, finished fifth at the 2008 Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Outdoor Championship and seventh at the 2008 OAC Indoor Championship. Marietta’s 23 female student-athletes combined to achieve a 3.181 grade point average.
There were 93 Division III women's track and field programs recognized as 2008 USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Teams. The OAc had three schools represented on the All-Academic team list.
Next school year, Marietta will host the 2008 OAC Cross Country Championship on November 1 as well as the 2009 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championship May 21-23. |
