MARIETTA, Ohio — Marietta College senior standout Brian Pallini (Medina) will go head-to-head with the other top throwers in the nation when he competes Friday (March 13) afternoon at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championship, which is being hosted by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Ind. Pallini, the second Pioneer male to qualify and participate in the NCAA D-III Indoor Championship since the school reinstated the program, enters the championship ranked sixth among the 16 qualifiers in the Weight Throw. The men’s Weight Throw will begin on Friday at 2:30 p.m. Results will be posted immediately after the event at http://www.raceberryjam.com/indexid.html.
Pallini has had a remarkable indoor season in 2009. He has been beaten only once by a D-III thrower and is undefeated against his D-III competition at home inside the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center this season. Pallini’s top mark (17.53m/57-06.25), which helped him qualify for the championship, is also a school record. He also holds the school record in the indoor Shot Put (15.14m/49-08.25).
“We are excited to take an athlete back to the national championship again,” Head Coach Derek Stanley said. “Brian is one of the staples of our throwing core and it is good to see him reach the level of success he has this year. His focus has been strong all year and that will be one of attributes to help him achieve his best this weekend.” |
