Pallini named OAC Field Athlete of the Week
Senior earns league honor for third time this year

April 6, 2009
AUSTINTOWN, Ohio — The Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) office announced its Athletes of the Week Monday (April 6) afternoon for the period of March 30-April 5, and Marietta College senior standout Brian Pallini (Medina) was named OAC Field Athlete of the Week. It is the third time this year that Pallini earned the honor; the first two occasions came during the indoor season.

Pallini continued his magical season on Saturday (April 4) afternoon with a pair of first place finishes at the Don Frail Invitational at Don Drumm Stadium. He also became the second Pioneer student-athlete in as many weeks to provisionally qualify for the 2009 NCAA Division III Track & Field Championship, joining sophomore Zach Gay (Elyria/Oberlin), who met the minimum standard in the High Jump. Pallini, an All-America selection in the Indoor Weight Throw, surpassed the provisional mark in the Shot Put by seven centimeters with a school record throw of 15.52m (50-11.00). He then took first place in the Hammer Throw with a meet record mark of 50.79m (166-08).

Marietta’s season continues with the Division III All-Ohio Championship, which will take place Saturday (April 11) afternoon at Ohio Wesleyan University. Action begins at 10 a.m.
