Welcome to the official home of the 2006 Ohio Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Marietta College

Twinsburg, OH -- Marietta will host the 2006 Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday-Saturday, May 12-13, at Don Drumm Stadium. Friday's competition will start at noon, while Saturday's competition will begin at 10 a.m. The Stadium opens at 10:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., respectively. All 10 OAC schools will vie for the League title.

The Mount Union men captured their 24th overall OAC championship a year ago, while the Baldwin-Wallace women took home their 15th OAC title in the last 21 years at the 2005 OACs.

Overall, eight individual titles holders and 10 members of winning relay teams return on the men's side to the 2006 OAC Championships. Mount Union returns four individual champions and a winning relay from last year. Purple Raider senior John Biacofsky (Willoughby/South) returns after being named the Jim Wuske Most Outstanding Track Athlete after a pair of individual wins and as a member of the winning 4x100 relay team. Biacofsky won the 100 meters in an OAC record time of 10.45 seconds and also took home the 200-meter crown (21.47). Joining Biacofsky on the winning relay was junior Nic Saluppo (Wadsworth/Highland) and senior James Cunningham (Cleveland/St. Edward). Also winning individual titles for the Raiders were junior Ryan Garro (Mogadore/Lake) in the 800 meters (1:53.31), junior Jeremy Velliquette (Fremont/St. Joseph) in the 1500 meters (3:59.68) and junior Justin Archer (Orrville) in the shot put (52-00.50).

Other returning individual champions from 2005 are Wilmington sophomore Marque Jones (Wilmington) in the 400 meters (48.65) and the long jump (23-03.50), Ohio Northern senior Brad Schroeder (Shelby) in the 5000 meters (15:22), Otterbein senior Mike Sawicki (Ashtabula/Lakeside) in the 10,000 meters (31:59.55) and Wilmington sophomore Chris Sprowl (Dayton/West Carrollton).

The Wilmington winning 4x400 relay returns Jones, senior Brent Wilkerson (Cincinnati/Anderson) and senior Chris Crutchfield. John Carroll's winning 4x800 relay team returns all four runners - sophomore Mike Juker (Mentor), senior Greg Adams (Springboro), junior Mike Charlillo (Strongsville/St. Ignatius) and senior Chris Hoban (North Ridgeville/Elyria Catholic).

The women return 10 individual champions and eight returning relay team members from 2005. Baldwin-Wallace senior Mary Griglak (Cleveland/Lutheran West) is back to defend her 400 meter title, while teammates Megan Cathcart (Parma), Kara Weaver (Myrtle Creek, OR/South Umpqua) and Megan McDannel (Berea) are also back after winning individual championship a year ago. Cathcart won the high jump (5-05.25), Weaver the long jump (19-01.25) and McDannel the discus (133-06) in 2005. Griglak and Weaver are joined on the winning 4x100 relay by senior Elizabeth Redd (North Canton/Glen Oak).
