Muskies hand Pioneers second straight OAC loss

MARIETTA, Ohio - The Pioneer volleyball team came into Tuesday's match with OAC rival Muskingum looking to win for just the second time in the last 15 meetings, having pulled out the 3-0 win last season. The Muskies, however, continued their dominance with a 3-1 victory over the Pioneers.
Marietta (5-8, 0-2 OAC) dropped the first game 30-28, won the second game 30-28 and the fell 30-17 in the final to games. With the win, Muskingum improves to 8-4 overall and 1-0 in the conference.
Paige Burton (Fairlawn/Akron Hoban) collected 36 assists and 15 digs in the loss.
Ashley Webster (West Chester/Ursuline Academy) led MC with 11 kills, three aces and 23 digs, while Jessica Craig (Uniontown/Lake) added 22 digs for the Pioneers.
Marietta will return to action Saturday (Sept. 25), when they travel to Waynesburg (PA) for a quad meet. The Pioneers will take on Waynesburg at 12 p.m. and then play Washington & Jefferson (PA) at 2 p.m.
