MC Spikers drop two at Waynesburg Quad Match

WAYNESBURG, PA- Marietta volleyball traveled to Waynesburg (PA) to play two matches today (Sept. 25). The Pioneers' losing streak hit five matches, as they fell 3-1 to Washington & Jefferson (PA) and 3-0 to Waynesburg.

Jennie Hayden (Powell/Olentangy) led the Pioneers (5-10, 0-2 OAC) with 13 kills in the first match against the Presidents. W & J won that match 30-16, 30-21, 27-30, 30-18.

Paige Burton (Fairlawn/Akron Hoban) finished with 27 assists and Ashley Webster (West Chester/Ursuline Academy) added 10 digs in the loss.

Waynesburg (3-6) won in straight games (30-25, 30-24, 35-33) in the second contest. Burton collected 26 assists, while Webster finished with nine kills and nine digs. Shanon Weber (Mayfield Hts./Mayfield) added eight kills against Waynesburg.

Marietta will return to action Tuesday (Sept. 28) when it visits Ohio Dominican at 7 p.m.
