Pioneers fall in three games to No. 7 Polar Bears

ADA, Ohio – The Ohio Northern volleyball team flexed its muscles this afternoon (Oct. 9) with a 3-0 victory over the Pioneers in Ada.

Marietta (6-16, 1-3 OAC) challenged Ohio Northern (18-3, 4-0 OAC) in each of the three games, but the Polar Bears responded each time to take control down the stretch in route to a 30-11, 30-21, 30-21 victory.

Sophomore Jaymi Stephens (Columbus/Hilliard Davidson) had a team-high 10 kills for Marietta, while fellow sophomore Paige Burton (Fairlawn/Akron Hoban) finished with 26 assists.

Senior Ashley Webster (West Chester/Ursuline Academy) and freshman Jessica Craig (Uniontown/Lake) collected 21 and 20 digs, respectively in the loss.

Coach Tom Symons' squad wil return to Fento Court Tuesday (Oct. 12) for its next match, a 7 p.m. showdown with Mount Union.
