Marietta volleyball splits matches at Wooster Triangular

WOOSTER, Ohio - The Marietta College volleyball team snapped a four-match losing streak with a 3-0 victory against Kenyon in the Pioneers' first match up at the Wooster Triangular Saturday (Sept. 24). Marietta later fell 3-0 to host Wooster finished 1-1 on the afternoon.
The Lady Pioneers (4-9, 0-1 OAC) defeated the Ladies 30-20, 30-27, 30-27 and fell to the Fighting Scots 30-16, 30-18, 30-20.
It was a tail of two matches, as Marietta hit a respectable .239 in the win over Kenyon, only to hit. 000 in the loss to Wooster.
Freshman setter Heather Faehnle (Columbus/Hilliard Davidson) finished the afternoon with 52 assists.
Junior Jaymi Stephens (Columbus/Hilliard Davidson) added a team-high 28 digs, while finishing with 15 kills. In addition, juniors Ellen Doolittle (Louisville, KY/DuPont Manual) and Paige Burton (Fairlawn/Akron Hoban) collected 18 kills and 26 digs, respectively, in the two matches.
Marietta will look to even its OAC record Tuesday (Sept. 27) when it welcomes Wilmington to Ban Johnson for a 7 p.m. match up. |
