No. 11 Ohio Northern tops Marietta 3-0

MARIETTA, Ohio - The Marietta College volleyball team ran into one of the top teams in the Ohio Athletic Conference when No. 11 Ohio Northern came to Fenton Court Saturday (Oct. 8).

The Pioneers (5-11, 1-3 OAC) hung with the powerful Polar Bears throughout the match, but ONU was able to put together short spurts that eventually led to a 30-24, 30-17, 30-20 victory. The win improved the Polar Bears' record to 17-6 overall and 3-1 in league play.

Junior Jaymi Stephens (Columbus/Hilliard Davidson) led Marietta with 10 kills and 13 digs, while freshman setter Heather Faehnle (Columbus/Hilliard Davidson) added nine kills, 27 assists and 11 digs. In addition, sophomore libero Jessica Craig (Uniontown/Lake) finished with a team-high 21 digs.

Marietta will return to action Tuesday (Oct. 11) when it travels to Alliance to take on Mount Union at 7 p.m.
