Marietta's struggles continue in 3-0 loss to Purple Raiders

ALLIANCE, Ohio - The Marietta College volleyball team fell to 5-12 overall and 1-4 in the Ohio Athletic Conference following a 3-0 road loss to Mount Union Tuesday (Oct. 11).

The Pioneers, who have struggles at times throughout the season to play with consistency, lost in straight games, 17-30, 25-30, 23-30, to the Purple Raiders (12-8, 1-4 OAC).

Sophomore libero Jessica Craig (Uniontown/Lake) paced the Pioneers' defense with 16 digs and sophomore Marissa Barnhart (Avon) added three solo blocks.

Junior Jaymi Stephens (Columbus/Hilliard Davidson) led Marietta's offense with 10 kills, while freshman setter Heather Faehnle (Columbus/Hilliard Davidson) finished with 26 assists in the loss, Marietta's third in a row.

Marietta will return to action Saturday (Oct. 15) when it travels plays host to Baldwin-Wallace. The match is slated to begin at 1 p.m. in Ban Johnson Arena.
