Tokodi's career-high not enough for MC to shoot down Falcons

Dec. 2, 2004
SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio - The Marietta College women's basketball hit the road to take on Notre Dame College in non conference hoops action Thursday (Dec. 2) night. Senior Rebecca Tokodi (Marietta/Parkersburg Catholic (WV)) scored a career-high, but the Falcons flew away with a 78-54 victory.

Marietta (2-3) took the floor for its final tune-up before Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) action gets underway this Saturday (Dec. 4) in Tiffin against Heidelberg. The Pioneers never held a lead in the contest and trailed by as many as 28 in the loss.

Coach Vicki Giffin's team trailed 26-21 with 5:39 to go in the first half, but Notre Dame finished the half with a 12-6 run to take control of the momentum. Marietta committed 13 turnovers in each half and shot 21-of-48 (43.8%) from the floor.

Tokodi continued to have the hot hand for Marietta, as she went 10-of-15 (66.7%) from the floor and finished with a career-high 23 points. It was the second straight game the Marietta native eclipsed the 20-point plateau.

The rest of the Pioneers shot just 11-of-33 (33.3%) from the field in the game; Tabi Taylor (New Matamoras/Frontier) added six points and four rebounds in the loss.

The Falcons were led by Amanda Blazetic with a game-high 24 points, 18 in the second frame. Maggie Daniels added all 20 of her points in the first half.

Marietta will begin OAC play Saturday against the Student Princes in part-two of a men's and women's doubleheader. The men's will take the floor at 2 p.m., while the women are slated for a 4 p.m. tip-off. Both games can be heard live on WMOA - AM 1490.

Junior Tabi Taylor had six points and four boards Thursday against Notre Dame
