Mar. 2, 2005
TWINSBURG, Ohio - The Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) released its women's basketball special award winners this afternoon (Mar. 2) and two Marietta College athletes were given All-OAC recognition, as voted on by the league coaches. Senior Rebecca Tokodi (Marietta/Parkersburg Catholic, WV) and freshman Justine Pagenhardt (Oakland, MD/Southern Garrett) were each given honorable mention all OAC honors.

Tokodi finished among the Conference leaders in scoring (7th/13.4 ppg), rebounding (8th/6.4 rpg) field goal percentage (3rd/.525) and blocks (1st/1.5 bpg). Starting in all 25 games, She scored double digits in 18 contests and had three double-doubles. Tokodi scored a career-high 30 points in Marietta's overtime win at Ohio Northern (Feb. 12) led the Pioneers in scoring 13 times.

Pagenhardt came on strong late in the season and finished second on the team and 19th in the league in scoring (10.0 ppg). She also averaged 1.3 assists and 2.4 rebounds per contests. Over the last three games, two against Capital and one against Wilmington, the freshman combined to score 75 points. Her season-high was 27 points and came at home versus the Crusaders (Feb. 16).

Tokodi and Pagenhardt helped lead the Pioneers to a fifth-place OAC finish this year with an 8-10 mark, their best finish since the 1994-95 season when they also placed fifth (9-9).

Marietta ended the year 10-15 overall, the most wins for the program in 10 seasons. The Lady Pioneers have now improved their record in each of the last three seasons.

Head coach Vicki Giffin was honored for her efforts this season with 2005 OAC Women's Co-Coach-of-the-Year honors.
