Eighth-ranked Yellow Jackets handle Lady Pioneers 102-53
Baldwin-Wallace tops Marietta for 23rd straight game

BEREA, Ohio - The eighth-ranked Baldwin-Wallace women's basketball team proved worthy of its ranking Saturday (Jan. 28), as it kept Marietta from getting comfortable all afternoon en route to a 102-53 victory.

With the win, the Yellow Jackets remained undefeated in the Ohio Athleltic Conference at 12-0 and improved to 17-2 overall. Marietta, meanwhile, fell to 5-14, 2-10 in league play.

A Tabi Taylor jumper gave Marietta an early 2-0 lead. Minutes later the score was tied 5-5 following a pair of free throws from Justine Pagenhardt. Baldwin-Wallace took control from there, out scoring Marietta 44-14 over the final 15:50 to take a 49-19 lead into the half.

The Yellow Jackets, who shot 19-of-30 (.633) from the field in the first frame, continued to pour it on over the final 20 minutes, leading by as many as 52 points in the 102-53 victory.

Marietta was held to 15-of-55 (.273) shooting, including 5-of-19 (.263) from long range. The Pioneers finished with 27 turnovers and were out rebounded 42-32 in the loss. Baldwin-Wallace finished 34-of-56 (.607) from the floor and added 30 points from the foul line, while committing 16 turnovers in the win.

Pagenhardt, the OAC's leading scorer, was held to just 2-of-12 from the floor and finished with 14 points. Taylor was the only other Pioneer in double figures, finishing with 12 points to go along with seven rebounds. Natalie Jackson and Abby Hess added nine points and eight boards, respectively in the loss.

Baldwin-Wallace had 15 players score, including four in double-digits. Michelle White led the way with 18 points, while Amanda Mondrach added 15, Steffani Jaworski had 11 and Alyson Cotter finished with 10 in the win.

Marietta will look to regroup before its next game, a 7:30 match-up with visiting Otterbein Wednesday (Feb. 1) on Fenton Court.
