Shooting woes doom Lady Pioneers against Heidelberg
Lady Pioneers shot 26% in 63-45 loss

MARIETTA, Ohio — The Marietta College women's basketball team's shooting let it down against Heidelberg Saturday (Feb. 4) allowing the Student Princes to take sole possession of eighth place with a 63-45 victory in game one of a men and women's doubleheader on Winter Weekend.

The Lady Pioneers (5-16, 2-12 OAC) hit just 12-of-47 (.255) from the floor in the loss, allowing Heidelberg (9-12, 3-11 OAC) to turn a close game at the half into a convincing victory.

Marietta led only once, 19-18 with 5:48 to play in the half, and continued to have long scoring droughts throughout the game.

Justine Pagenhardt paced Marietta with 21 points, despite hitting just 5-of-21 from the field. She was able to add eight points from the foul line. Sara Burns was the only other Pioneers to score double-figures. She finished with 10.

Heidelberg was led by Brittany Skolnicki with 22 points, nine rebound, four steals and three assists, while Amanda Campbell added 14 points in the win.

The Student Princes dominated the boards, out rebounding Marietta 42-28 in the win. The Pioneers finished with 18 turnovers, while Heidelberg had 20.

Marietta will return to action Wednesday (Feb. 8) when it travels to New Concord to take on Muskingum at 7:30 p.m.
