Marietta's Taylor and Pagenhardt named Academic All-OAC in women's basketball

TWINSBURG, Ohio — The Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) announced its 2006 women's basketball academic award winners Wednesday (Mar. 8), and Marietta College's Tabi Taylor (New Matamoras/Frontier) and Justine Pagenhardt (Oakland, Md./Southern Garrett) were both named Academic All-OAC.
Taylor, a senior biology major with a 3.76 GPA, averaged 4.5 points and 4.2 rebounds this season. A forward and the lone upperclassmen on the squad, Taylor started all 25 games for the Lady Pioneers. It is the first time that she earned Academic All-OAC honors in her career.
Pagenhardt, also a first time selection, is a sophomore biology major carrying a 3.98 GPA. Pagenhardt led the league in scoring, averaging 19.2 points. The 2006 All-OAC second team recipient also averaged 2.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 0.9 steals in 29.6 minutes per game.
As a team, Marietta finished the season under interim head coach Tad Secrest with an overall record of 6-19, including a league record of 3-15. A national search to find a head coach for the 2006-07 season is now under way.
Overall, 12 student-athletes were named Academic All-OAC, while seven more were given honorable metion in 2006. To be eligible for Academic All-OAC, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.25 cumulative GPA, be a starter or key reserve and be in at least his or her second year of participation in the sport.
