Pioneers fall on the road to Mount Union
Lady Pioneers shot just 26% in loss

MARIETTA, Ohio — Junior Justine Pagenhardt (Oakland, Md./Southern Garrett) came closer to a career milestone, scoring her 900th point, in Marietta College women's basketball's 67-44 road loss to Mount Union College Wednesday (Jan. 3) evening. [Box Score]

The loss drops the Pioneers' record to 2-10 overall and 0-5 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. The Purple Raiders improve to 6-6, 2-3 in the OAC.

Pagenhardt paced Marietta College with 15 points and has now scored 909 in her two-plus year career. Sophomore Amanda Carraher (Hilliard/Hilliard Davidson) added nine points while freshman Jamie Beckett (Wooster/Triway) had eight points and eight rebounds in the loss.

Mount Union, who finished 28-of-61 (.459) from the floor, 5-of-22 (.227) from long range and 6-of-9 (.667) from the line, led wire-to-wire in the contest. It forced Marietta, who shot just 13-of-51 (.255) from the field, including 2-of-21 (.095) from long range, to turn the ball over 21 times. The Pioneers finished 16-of-26 (.615) from the charity stripe and were out rebounded 39-35.

Alicia Williams (18), Haley Drayer (14) and Lauren Friedrich(10) all reached double figures for Mount Union.

Marietta will look to turn things around when it visits John Carroll Saturday (Jan. 6) for a 1 p.m. tip-off.
