Marietta College women's basketball coach Ted Eskildsen announces retirement
Coach finishes 23-year career with a 311-312 record

MARIETTA, Ohio — Veteran college basketball coach Ted Eskildsen, who spent the 2006-07 season as Marietta College's head women's coach, announced his retirement from basketball Tuesday (April 17), according to Athletics Director Debbie Lazorik.

In Eskildsen's one year at Marietta, the Lady Pioneers finished 2-23 overall and 0-18 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. His career head coaching record, which spanned 23 years, ends at 311-312.

"It's been a good ride with many fond memories and life-long friendships," said Eskildsen.

Eskildsen hails from Elizabeth, N.J., and played his college basketball at Belmont Abbey in Belmont, N.C. After receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in history, Eskildsen began his coaching career while completing his Masters of Education Counseling degree at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

From North Carolina, Eskildsen made a coaching stop at Hawthorne College in New Hampshire before spending six years at Iowa's Grinnell College. He then spent two years at Bethany (W.Va.) College and five at Mount Holyoke in South Hadley, Mass.From 2000-05, Eskildsen was at the helm of the women's basketball program at St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa.

Eskildsen and his wife, Barbara, have two children, T.J. and Annie.
