Pioneer women fall to host Cardinals 103-68
Marietta visits Wilmington on Saturday at 3 p.m.

WESTERVILLE, Ohio — The Marietta College women’s basketball team could not keep up with host Otterbein College as it fell 103-68 on Thursday (Jan. 29) night. The loss dropped Pioneers' record to 2-16 overall and 0-11 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC). The Cardinals improved to 10-8 overall and 6-5 in the OAC.

Freshman post Chelsea Drake (Georgetown) led the Pioneers with 16 points while collecting four rebounds. Junior post Jamie Beckett (Wooster/Triway) followed with 14 points and five rebounds. Senior guard Amanda Carraher (Hilliard/Hilliard Davidson) chipped in with 11 points and a team-high seven rebounds in the loss.

Laura Roth paced the Cardinals with 27 points and eight assists. Karli Volkimer scored 17 points, while Kallie Stallard added 14 points off the bench. Kristi Kotterman added 10 points in the win.

For the game, Marietta finished 21-of-62 (.339) from the field, 6-of-20 (.300) from three-point range and 20-of-30 (.667) from the free throw line. Otterbein went 36-of-67 (.537) from the field, 11-of-18 (.611) from behind the arc and 20-of-21 (.952) from the free throw line. The Cardinals out-rebounded the Pioneers, 42-35, and held the edge in turnovers, committing 17 to Marietta’s 19.

The Lady Pioneers are back in action on Saturday (Jan. 31) afternoon as they travel to Wilmington College. Game time is slated for 3 p.m.
