Drake scores 13 points in Pioneer women's loss at Muskingum
Marietta plays host to John Carroll on Saturday at 3 p.m.

NEW CONCORD, Ohio — The Marietta College women's basketball team had three players reach double figures in a 76-51 loss to rival Muskingum College on Wednesday (Feb. 11) night at the Muskingum Recreation Center.

Freshman post Chelsea Drake (Georgetown) led the Pioneers (2-20, 0-15 OAC) with 13 points and five rebounds. Senior wing Amanda Carraher (Hilliard/Hilliard Davidson) played all 40 minutes and followed with 11 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals. Junior post Jamie Beckett (Wooster/Triway) added 10 points and seven boards in 39 minutes of action.

Muskingum (15-7, 10-5 OAC) had 18 different players see time in the game. Jessica McKenzie paced the Muskies with 17 points, five boards, four assists and two steals in 17 minutes. Mallory Moore came off the bench to add 10 points in the win.

The Fighting Muskies opened the game on a 18-4 run over the first 9:20 to take complete control of the contest. Marietta cut the lead down to six points, 22-16, with 8:11 remaining in the half, but Muskingum closed the period on a 22-5 run to take a 44-21 advantage into intermission.The lead grew to 32 points early in the second half before the Muskies cruised to the 76-51 win.

The Pioneers return to action on Saturday (Feb. 14) afternoon when they play host to John Carroll University at 3 p.m. Saturday will be the first of two WBCA Pink Zone games. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to show their support for breast cancer awareness.
